About Me
A little about me……
My name is Marie and I live in the picturesque village of Passage East in County Waterford in the sunny south-east of Ireland with my husband, Caoimhin.
Since I retired from my job as a Medical Scientist a few years ago, I have spent a lot of time travelling with Caoimhin and a small backpack. We are fans of slow, independent travel, without too much planning, preferring to make up an itinerary as we go along, loving the freedom that comes with retirement.
We have backpacked around Central America, dawdled around the many islands of the Philippines, road-tripped to Greece and back through Albania, Montenegro and Slovenia, gone island-hopping through all eight of the Canary Islands and toured Japan in a campervan. We have driven around Mexico and taken our all-electric van from Ireland to Morocco. And we’re not finished yet.
Of course, its isn’t necessary to travel far to have rewarding experiences. Ireland is a wonderful country to travel around, especially the lesser explored areas like the Copper Coast in Waterford and the remote North West corner of Mayo with breathtaking trails and desserted beaches.
I blog about our travels and some of my articles have been published in Irish National Newspapers. If you like the comfort of ‘armchair travelling’, would like some travel info or are just curious about budget travelling when you are no longer young, come along on the journey with us, we’d love to have you.
